Smile Suggestion : log conversation

I want this function for a long time!!!!!!

As I chat a lot with my guildmates/friends/teammate,
I will be very happy if the conversations will be logged automatically and saved to a file!!!

Yesterday I have printed screen for about 2X times in order to save a conversion in image form(that conversion is not very long!!!)...it is a really terrible experience!!!!!

Could NC Soft think about this function????
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH Sorry I should post this to Sardelac Sanitarium...can anyone tell me how to delete this post?

Great scott, I've never seen so many exclamation points in one place.

It does log for a reasonable amount of time, but can you imagine the disk space to store all the chat? My poor computer would be overrun after a few minutes of standing in LA d1.

Thanks for the input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any more ideas??????????????!!!!!!!!!

Not as much as one would think if it were all stored in plaintext. Like mIRC's logging feature, really.

I used to talk in a certain channel on irc.rizon.net a lot...very active, somewhat spammy at times. The logs created weren't very large.

Thanks for you guys' reply!!!

I think the game should allow the player to choose which channel they want to log. For example a guy can choose to log the conversation in guild channel but not the public channel.

I agree the point that conversation logging will cause lag (maybe that's why no game has this feature ) but I believe this function will make every player happy(and lag?)!!!!!

Anyway this is just a suggestion~

Good idea was thinking about this other night, plain text format would not use a huge amount of space i use a number of busy irc chanels and log the chat in plain text and its nothing on hard drive space.

Maybe it should be done so it stores the chat for 30days then deletes the old data they way if you want to save anything after that you have to save it yourself

While we're at it, could we possibly copy text from the chat windows to the system clipboard? Funny you can paste into it, but not copy.

I made this suggestion before, but it got drowned in the flow of it all. Good to see somebody else suggest it as well

Hi...I'm a games researcher and I'm willing to bet there is a way to save chat. When I asked people from Blizzard about WoW they said "no it can't be done" but a fellow researcher new the "secret word." I find it hard to believe that QA did not request this feature? Anybody with Arcane knowledge who can find the secret password to save chatlogs?

As it is now there is probably no way for us to save the chatlogs, though ANET would be saving the logs at their end in order to check that the complaints they recieve are correct.

I would ask for one, but I can't think of a reason why one would be useful for us.

Keyloggers only record what you type in, not what other people say over guild wars chat or things you copy and paste into chat.

Agreed! It would probably have quite a lot of options such as logging each different chat tab, and organizing via zone, district, etc.

No, it would not be laggy. And frankly I don't see how it would be hard. EverQuest had it. In fact, it was a useful tool for trade skill experiments as well as reporting bad behavior. It just makes a small .txt document. Then again, EverQuest's chat was based on IRC. GW seems to use its own custom-built chat.

Anet already has all chat in the game saved at some point in time, but don't expect them to add such a feature.

since for example sometimes people write builds to you that you could have use of but you're very busy when he/she is writing. this would make it all much easier then taking screens of the log.
